There is still one round of games to go this season in the Premier League and for the longest time, it hasn't been a year as exciting for the rational Manchester United/football fan.

Arch-rivals, noisy neighbours and the league's current shopping basket owners, Manchester City are in pole as United have done a Blackburn after City did an Arsenal.

With the final game about to begin in a few hours, this would be an apt post to bring Mango Pulp Fiction to a close as a blog - so here it is, the Manchester United season in review - the BS yet no BS version.

For a season that had early promise in the Cleverly-Anderson midfield scene, the end-game has clearly fizzled out for Sir Alex this season.

Often known as the team that only remember that they have a title to win post-February, United started strongly, and the 8-2 be Arsed jokes were the talk of the town, before a 6-1 mauling at home brought the entire season to a grinding halt. And United never got going again, well not with the usual swagger anyway.

Mid-season was peppered with draws and defeats at the usual bogey teams, and then some, especially the loss at Wigan that let Citeh back into it.

There were issues that weren't addressed till Scholesy returned for his mammoth roleplay as the shadow boxing midfield marshall that Carrick could never be for United.

The major sore point of course was the Cleverly injury and the curious case of Mr. Darren Fletcher, who has never been the same ever since THAT semi final sending off. (remember that thing about there being only one Darren Fletcher?)

There are clear positives though - Tony V is the new star on the block, Ashley can only get better at this thing with Rooney, the Cheech has failed so he can succeed again and Berba is still around.

I'm an eternal optimist bordering on mental romanticism, so I'm going to believe we can win the league till we've lost it, because I don't know another way. But we do need a couple of big signings, this season more than ever. And not Kagawa, we already have Cleverly.

Anderson needs a new home. Nani needs a new job. Fergie needs a new assistant. I need a new blog.
